so, after a good work out today at the gym I come back to read the paper and eat lunch. I get to the op-ed page of the Washington Post, and find an article on the Boy Scouts. It really ticks me off that a group that exposes inclusivity, and tolerance of differences can be biggoted towards a person because of an intangible (being gay) and this idiot says that we should support them in this. It is their right to free speech and association (First Ammendment) and I can respect them for that, but this also flounts in the face of several state's right to protect people from real or percieved segregation. And now those states and cities and whatnot are saying that they will no longer allow the Scouts acces to state buildings for meeting or events and that groups like the United Way can no longer solicit the state workers for funds for the scouts. The soliciting of funds is NOT protected by the first Ammendment, and if they want to claim religious reasons for banning people, then live with the concequences of those actions. This country was in a bad way before I was born with the differences in a person's skin color, now it is a person's sexual orientation. I am not saying, before you go off on me, that the oppression of blacks in america is in any way equal to what I face as a gay man; after all, I can hide my difference, and unless I hit on someone they are not likely to know about me. BUT, the difference in tollerance actually came gradually over time and through legal pressuring. The time is coming for that to happen on the front of (and I hate this term, but can't think of another term) sexual orientation. I was proud of the fact that I became an Eagle Scout after a long process of working towards it, and have often been sickened by how easy it has become, but now I look at the Scouts and am sickened by what they have become. And what sickens me most of all, is not that they discriminate against gay men as scout leaders, but why...we are gay hence pedophiles...when it is widely proven that most pedophiles are HETEROSEXUAL, and probably leading troops right now. I am sure Lord Baden-powell would be rolling over in his grave if he know how badly his dream of nature and hard work and tollerance were being perverted here in America.

well, here it goes.
New things are often scary. I a not too sure how this will go, and how it will work, but
to satisfy my EGO, I am starting. Started a Gym yesterday, and today I took a fitness
test they have. all went well in terms of the cardio, streaching, and situps, but the one
thing to bug me was the idea that I have 25% body fat. I mean that shoudl be like Shamu fat
right? I am not that big, but that is waht their computer said I am. well, got to loose that fat,
and gain that muscle. my friend Rob and I had talked about going to a movie today, but I am
going to beg out and take a night at home. not feeling too good think I have whatever has had
Michael down for the past few days. well, back to work.
